The Abbey Cellars philosophy is to provide a selection of wines of international standing with classic character and style. We maintain an exclusive focus on producing small volumes of selectively hand harvested grapes to ensure premium quality wine with distinctive regional characteristics.
Located in the Bridge Pa Triangle, a sub-region of Hawkes Bay on the ancient Ngaruroro riverbed, the free draining river deposited gravels known locally as the ‘red metals’ form the foundation of a major fine wine producing area within Hawkes Bay. Abbey Cellars is open to the public for tastings and the abbey itself is a spectacular sight. Architecturally designed, the winery is our unique interpretation of a gothic abbey.
Blending modern and traditional techniques we hand-craft our premium wines from the world’s best grape varieties; Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, Syrah, Riesling & Chardonnay. We also have small parcels of Petit Verdot, Carménère & Viognier. Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet wines are the flagship of the Abbey Cellars range. Our wines deliver clean, vibrant and fruity characteristics with elegant complexity and texture.
